Welcome on the GUI Automation
site. The mission of this site is to be a place of sharing knowledge on
GUI automation, especially for automated tests. The site is owned by me i.e. Piotr Kałuski (pkaluski@piotrkaluski.com). My main focus is streamlining the testing process. Automation plays an important role here. Since there are more and more GUI like commercial applications, importance of GUI automation grows. Although I am under impression that this importance is slightly overestimated, there are cases when well thought GUI automation may bring a lot to a process. Currently most of my stuff (including this related to GUI automation) is placed on my personal site www.piotrkaluski.com. But I plan to move the GUI related stuff here. I do invite people to colaborate. My big goal is to make this place the starting point for anyone who plans to automate GUI tests. I also want to promote open source, free tools. There are commercial, well known tools but they are really expensive. So, another big goal is to create a free, well know and reputed toolking for GUI tests. Currently I am focusing on testing GUI applications written in Visual C++ for Windows. There is a perl module Win32::GuiTest, which gives many interesting features. I have written two articles on it. One is an introduction to the module and in the same time an introduction to basics of GUI automation on Win32. The second is a more specialized text analizing consequences of using one function of Win32::GuiTest module. Have a look in Win32 section |
